DARE to help to improve mental health

Dare to:

-
Preserve life where a person may be at risk of harm to themselves or others
-
Provide help to prevent the mental health issue from becoming more serious before professional help arrives
-
Promote the recovery of good mental health
-
Provide comfort to a person with a mental health issue
-
Raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
-
Reduce stigma and discrimination
-
Improve your own health and wellbeing
We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.

Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health.
This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.
Review for Dare Learning Mental Health First Aid courses
"Alisdair was excellent. Very warm, approachable and personable. Knowledgeable on the subject and communicates his knowledge in a very clear way.The mix of learning methods worked well - pre-reading, pre-watching videos, pre-questions and of course the live session"
"Great course - loved the blended learning. Alisdair's knowledge was out of this world."
"Great course and perfect balance of homework, broadcast and discussion. I was worried about 4 x 3hr sessions beforehand, but the time flew by due to the skills and structure led by Alisdair who was fantastic. I got a huge amount from the course and feel confident in my new found ability and knowledge around ALGEE and mental health generally. I have already recommended the course and will keep reading the manual as there is so much information to take in. Thanks again"
"I enjoyed the blended learning experience, (video calls, manual, workbooks, pre-learning, videos, the quiz questions, breakout rooms, case studies. It made the course engaging, not boring and more memorable. Alisdair was great. I also appreciated Alisdair sharing his own history of mental health issues - as it shows that you can help others even if you have your own challengesI would highly recommend the course, and I'm grateful that our company is taking this mental health seriously and putting things in place to help anyone that might need itThank you!"
